Los Cabos is so brimming with activities, festivals, events and recreational pursuits that it will be a challenge to just decide how you're going to choose among amusements from day to day. Below you can see calendars of holidays, fishing tournaments, unique monthly celebrations and special occasions.
Both Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo will also have small-scale events that don't make the calendars, but which you might stumble upon in your wanderings. Also check out our Activities page for a large listing of fun in the Cabo sun.
Baby Sea Turtle Rescue
Throughout the surrounding months endangered baby sea turtles begin to hatch. Months before, conservation groups in Los Cabos protect nesting sites during the critical incubation period. Many sea turtles nest outside of resorts on the beaches resting along the Sea of Cortez. Resorts participate in the conservation effort by organizing supervised baby turtle release programs, helping the tiny creatures make their first journey safely into the sea.
Annual State of the Union
Though this date is an approximation, the President delivers the State of the Union Address in the autumn.
Dia de Nuestra Señora
This local holiday celebrates Baja's first mission.
Mexican Independence Celebration
Mexico's most significant national holiday begins the evening of September 15 with the President's cry (El Grito) of "Viva Mexico" from the balcony of the National Palace. Locals respond with calls of "Viva!" Fireworks, folk dancing and mariachi bands follow. The next day offers parades, speeches, family picnics and more. Events held in Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo.
